Privacy
Last updated 9 October 2026. Applies to Katecheo for Mac and Katecheo for iPhone.
The short version
Katecheo collects nothing. There is no account, no server, no analytics and no advertising. Nothing you do in the app is sent to me or to anyone else. Everything the app knows stays on your device.
What stays on your device
- Your decks, your answers and your review history.
- Your schedule, your sessions and the weekly report built from them.
- Your settings.
Deleting the app deletes all of it. A report or a backup leaves your device only when you export or share it yourself.
Katecheo for iPhone
- Screen Time. Katecheo asks for Screen Time access so it can count phone use and cover other apps until you answer a question or finish a session. The apps you choose are stored as tokens that Apple provides. Katecheo cannot read their names, and it never sees your browsing history or what you do inside any app.
- Alarms. Session alarms are scheduled on your phone through the system. They are not sent anywhere.
- Notifications. Every notification is created on your phone. Katecheo uses no push service.
Katecheo for Mac
- Accessibility. Used to hold the keyboard during a lock and to move other apps' windows out of the way. Katecheo does not record what you type.
- Automation. During a study session, Katecheo reads the address of the active browser tab to enforce the site list you set. The address is checked on your Mac and is not stored or sent.
- Camera. Katecheo asks the system whether another app is using the camera, so it never interrupts a video call. It does not open the camera and captures nothing.
